Peshawar University has closed nine undergraduate departments after low enrollment in this year’s BS intake. The university said several programs saw minimal admissions, prompting a review of viability for small cohorts.
According to the announcement, some departments admitted only one or two students. The administration decided to discontinue undergraduate programs that recorded fewer than 15 entrants to ensure academic standards and resource allocation.
The affected departments include Geography, History, Home Economics, Geology and Statistics, as well as Development Studies, Social Anthropology, Logistics and Supply Chain Analytics and Human Development. The closures take effect for the current session.
Students enrolled in or intending to join the impacted programs are advised to approach university administration for guidance on alternative academic pathways and programme transfers. The university said it will assist affected students with available options as it adjusts to the reduced BS admissions this year.
