According to the press briefing, the committee held a detailed discussion on all action points prepared after the meeting of October 15. It stressed the need to complete ongoing rehabilitation, construction and administrative work at PIMS on an emergency basis so that patients could be provided better and timely medical facilities.

The meeting placed special emphasis on accelerating steps required for the completion and operationalisation of the new emergency block so that it could be opened for patients at the earliest. In this regard, the committee discussed the transfer of medical equipment from the former filter emergency and the main emergency, staff preparedness and other necessary arrangements on a priority basis.

The committee also underlined the need for daily drill activities for doctors, nurses and paramedical staff, along with weekly reviews of their progress.

The meeting considered coordination with the PIDL team for reviewing construction work in all relevant departments of PIMS and obtaining review reports by October 21, 2026. Progress on heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) works and the deadline of December 1, 2026, also came under discussion.

The committee reviewed measures to check the functionality of ventilators in all departments and to carry out their repair, maintenance or replacement on a priority basis where required.

To improve staff identification and administrative discipline, the meeting stressed immediate and mandatory compliance with the requirement for staff to display official identity cards while on duty. It also discussed preparing and implementing a colour-based uniform identification scheme for scrubs for assistant professors, senior registrars, medical officers, nursing and paramedical staff, and interns.

Under the PIMS reorganisation and rehabilitation plan, the committee also discussed the submission of medical equipment and construction requirements by all departments on a priority basis.

The meeting further reviewed the pilot project of “one patient, one identification number” at the PIMS Cardiac Centre through the National Information Technology Board (NITB), with an implementation target of November 1, 2026.

The committee emphasised effective coordination among relevant departments, timely fulfilment of responsibilities and progress in line with the set targets so that the benefits of the rehabilitation measures could reach patients as soon as possible.
