PM&DC says improved monitoring and its digital registration portal helped clear nearly 99pc of applications received till October 2026.

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) has processed and issued 302,587 applications out of 304,819 received across various registration categories till October 2026, clearing nearly 99 per cent of the total applications, according to registration portal statistics released by the council.

The council said the progress had been achieved under the leadership and directions of PM&DC President Prof Dr Rizwan Taj through proactive measures aimed at strengthening the registration system, ensuring faster processing, prompt disposal of cases and efficient handling of applications submitted by doctors and dental professionals.

According to PM&DC, improved workflow management, proactive monitoring and greater attention to pending cases have helped ensure that applications are processed efficiently and applicants receive timely responses.

The council said a key outcome of the measures was facilitation of doctors and dental professionals without unnecessary visits to the PM&DC office. It added that improved handling of registration-related matters through the online portal and administrative coordination had enabled applicants to complete their cases remotely, saving time, reducing travel expenses and minimising inconvenience.

PM&DC said the facility was particularly beneficial for doctors serving in hospitals, remote areas and other demanding professional settings. It added that the latest figures reflected efforts to meet the growing demand for registration and verification services through the digital registration portal.

The council said continuous upgrading of the registration system and proactive monitoring had helped improve operations through closer tracking of application volumes, processing status, objections and pending cases. Portal statistics, it added, provided a consolidated overview of performance across multiple categories and supported informed administrative decisions and targeted follow-up.

The applications processed by the council include full licences, provisional licences, renewals, good standing certificates, postgraduate qualifications, faculty registration and experience verification.

According to the statistics, PM&DC issued 90,683 renewal-of-full-licence applications out of 90,837 received. It issued 54,044 full-licence applications out of 54,620 received, while 51,702 provisional licences were issued out of 51,736 applications.

The council also issued 40,619 Good Standing Certificates against 40,630 applications received. It processed 17,158 postgraduate qualification registration applications out of 17,203 and 11,065 faculty registration applications out of 11,308 received.

Furthermore, 7,343 applications for Pakistani nationals seeking foreign basic provisional licences were issued out of 7,347 received.

In a statement, PM&DC President Prof Dr Rizwan Taj said the figures highlighted the scale of work undertaken by the council and the progress achieved in several high-volume registration categories. He emphasised institutional efficiency, transparency, accountability and timely facilitation of medical and dental professionals.

He said the council would continue focusing on improving registration processes, strengthening administrative oversight and addressing pending cases in accordance with applicable rules and regulatory requirements.

Prof Taj said PM&DC was modernising its operational systems to ensure that registration services supported the needs of healthcare professionals while maintaining the standards expected of Pakistan’s national medical and dental regulatory body. He said the council aimed at regulatory excellence, efficient registration and improved facilitation of medical and dental professionals.

The council said it had also placed greater emphasis on early identification of deficiencies and objections so that applicants could be informed of outstanding requirements and cases could move forward without avoidable delays. It said timely scrutiny and follow-up were helping improve the overall processing cycle and support a more transparent and applicant-friendly registration system.
