Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi has partnered with the British Council Pakistan to roll out the Pakistan Youth Leadership Initiative, known as PYLI, aimed at building leadership, civic engagement and capacity among university students.

A planning meeting chaired by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman focused on how PMAS-AAUR will deliver leadership training through the university’s GYM Club and how both partners can collaborate to maximise impact for students across campus. The session detailed training formats, participant selection and the role of faculty in mentoring participants under the PYLI framework.

The Vice Chancellor reiterated the university’s commitment to work closely with the British Council and to actively facilitate programmes that help develop a generation of socially responsible and empowered youth. He underscored PMAS-AAUR’s intent to expand opportunities for students through national and international cooperation and targeted capacity building under PYLI.

Representatives from the British Council, Mr. Iftikhar Ahmed and Mr. Aun Naqvi, welcomed the university’s proactive approach and confirmed ongoing support for the initiative. They highlighted the importance of sustained collaboration to ensure training quality, participant follow-up and broader community engagement via the PYLI activities.

With the PYLI partnership in place, PMAS-AAUR and the British Council plan to move quickly from planning into delivery, organising leadership workshops and development activities through the GYM Club to equip students with practical skills, social responsibility and pathways for future civic and professional leadership.
