A large reception was held at Liaquat Bagh Press Club where PPP Rawalpindi city president Mian Khurram Rasool addressed a sizeable gathering of party workers and leaders, promising to strengthen the party’s presence across the city. He urged unity and coordination, saying party workers will be respected and mobilized to raise the party flag in neighbourhoods and wards.
Speakers at the event included Raja Kamran Hussain, Aamir Fida Paracha, Rana Rafiqat Malik, Malik Asif Akbar, Anjum Farooq Paracha, Raja Altaf Hussain and Naseer Mir, among others, who reinforced the message of solidarity. The programme opened with a recitation from the Quran by Peoples Youth Organization president Abdul Rehman Tokli, followed by a naat by the renowned reciter Falak Sher Falaki.
Leaders from affiliated groups and forums including PLF Rawalpindi division president Syed Masood ul Hasan Shah, Amjad Butt, Tariq Waheed Butt and representatives from the Youth, Labour, Lawyers Forum and Traders Cell also addressed the workers. Several local party figures attended alongside their teams, demonstrating broad base support for the leadership’s plans.
In a symbolic gesture, former city president Raja Kamran Hussain presented Mian Khurram Rasool with the key to the party office at Liaquat Bagh. Mian Khurram Rasool thanked Raja Kamran for his measured leadership during his tenure and pledged to use all available resources to restore and reinforce party organisation across Rawalpindi.
Underlining the party’s immediate priorities, Mian Khurram Rasool announced that their foremost target is the upcoming local government elections and expressed confidence that PPP Rawalpindi candidates will secure majority wins. He called for mass mobilisation from every ward committee to form a large procession and proposed a visit to Sindh to offer fatiha at the graves of party martyrs including Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, Shaheed Mir Murtaza Bhutto and Mir Shah Nawaz Bhutto.
After the formal addresses, party workers and office-bearers led by Mian Khurram Rasool, Asif Akbar and Raja Kamran gathered at the designated memorial site for collective fatiha for Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and the Bhutto family martyrs. The reception concluded with a communal meal organised by the city president and general secretary Malik Asif Akbar.
Senior party workers paid tribute to Mian Khurram Rasool’s energy and commitment, offering full cooperation to strengthen the party’s grassroots organisation. The gathering affirmed PPP Rawalpindi’s focus on worker welfare, organisational revival and a concerted push for success in local elections.
