Progressive Students Federation delegation meets the Cuban ambassador in Islamabad.

Islamabad, 25 June 2026: A delegation of the Federation of Progressive Students, led by General Secretary Fatima Shahzad, visited the Cuban embassy and held a cordial meeting with Cuban Ambassador Damián Cordero Torres.

During the meeting, the students from different universities were briefed on the situation in Cuba, the impact of the energy blockade under the US embargo, and the unilateral coercive measures faced by the Cuban people. They were also informed about the measures adopted by the Cuban nation in response, highlighting its resilience and creative spirit.

The students expressed solidarity with the Cuban people and reaffirmed their support for the sovereignty of Cuba, their rejection of the blockade imposed by the United States, and their willingness to join the solidarity campaign in support of Cuba. Fatima Shahzad also presented a Letter of Solidarity with Cuba and a painting of leaders of nations that have fought for a sovereign path.

The delegation also shared plans for activities to mark 26 July and discussed efforts to organise donations for the island. Ambassador Damián Cordero Torres thanked the students for the visit and their support, saying the gesture reflected genuine solidarity with Cuba.
