PSEM Elects New Leadership in 2026 Ballot

PSEM elections saw over 200 emergency physicians vote electronically to elect a new cabinet on May 3, 2026, strengthening emergency medicine leadership.

The Pakistan Society of Emergency Medicine held its third cabinet election on May 3, 2026, drawing enthusiastic participation from emergency medicine professionals nationwide. The PSEM elections featured 10 contestants from various regions of Pakistan and engaged more than 200 emergency physicians and trainees, with electronic voting employed to ensure fairness and broad access.

The newly elected cabinet reflects a cross‑section of the emergency care community with Dr. Abdus Salam Khan of Shifa International Hospital elected President, Dr. Irfan Habib of Child Life Foundation as Vice President, Dr. Shahan Waheed of Aga Khan University Hospital Karachi as General Secretary, Dr. Noorulain of Aga Khan as Social Secretary, and Dr. Zareen Qasmi of Child Life Foundation as Secretary Media & Publications. The result underlines growing engagement and unity within Pakistan’s emergency medicine sector.

Outgoing President Dr. Khawaja Junaid Mustafa of Shifa International Hospital encouraged emergency physicians across Pakistan to take part in the voting process and extended his best wishes to all candidates for their dedication to advancing the specialty. Following the PSEM elections the oath taking for the new cabinet is scheduled for May 9, 2026 at 5 00 PM, and the society has congratulated the elected leaders while reaffirming its commitment to strengthening emergency medical care across the country.
