**UNODC and Punjab Government Finalize Training Strategy for New Justice Digitalization Systems**
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Pakistan, in partnership with several Punjab government departments, has taken a significant step toward digitizing the province’s justice sector. In a landmark technical consultation held in Lahore, stakeholders finalized the training methodology for Punjab’s integrated Case Flow Management System (CFMS) and Prisons Management Information System (PMIS), both key components of broader digital justice reforms.
The initiative, funded by the U.S. Embassy’s Office of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL), brought together representatives from the Punjab Prosecution Department, Punjab Prisons Department, and the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB). The session built upon insights gathered at previous meetings in Southern Punjab, Islamabad, and Gujranwala, culminating in the creation of a comprehensive and structured training plan for both end-users and master trainers.
The newly-developed training modules are designed to facilitate real-time data sharing between prosecutors and prison authorities. This technological advancement is expected to streamline information exchange, reduce delays in judicial decision-making, and address longstanding issues related to case backlogs. In particular, the system aims to enable more efficient tracking and processing of cases, thereby helping to reduce the number of Under Trial Prisoners (UTPs) by ensuring their cases progress in a timely manner.
By equipping officials with the necessary skills to operate these integrated digital platforms, the project seeks to pave the way for a more transparent, efficient, and responsive justice system across Punjab.
