Punjab Smog initiative moves forward as Planning and Development Board adopts revised Air Safe plan to bolster smog control and improve provincial air quality.

Secretary Planning and Development Board Rafaqat Ali chaired a meeting to review the Punjab Smog Mitigation and Response Initiative Air Safe (Revised), concentrating on strengthening coordinated efforts to control smog and improve air quality across the province.

Senior Chief (Environment) Nadia Shafiq, Additional Secretary (Environment) Tariq Hussain, representatives from the Urban Unit and other concerned officials attended the session to discuss practical strategies, interagency coordination and monitoring mechanisms necessary for effective smog response. Participants highlighted the role of urban planning and data sharing in supporting the Punjab Smog effort.

Officials agreed on the need for clearer coordination among departments and timely follow up on the revised Air Safe measures to protect public health and reduce seasonal smog impacts. The meeting underscored ongoing provincial commitment to strengthening the Punjab Smog initiative through joint actions and regular progress reviews.
