Punjab government officials have reviewed preparations to combat smog ahead of the upcoming season, focusing on strengthening monitoring and timely implementation of preemptive measures. The session, chaired by Secretary of Environment Protection and Climate Change Department (EP&CCD) Ms. Silwat Saeed, gathered senior officials to discuss ongoing efforts and future strategies.
During the meeting, Director General of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Dr. Imran Hamid Sheikh presented a detailed briefing on the current action plan. He highlighted ongoing interventions and the coordination taking place with relevant stakeholders to mitigate the effects of smog in the province.
Project Director of SP&IU, Tariq Hussain Bhatti, and Additional Secretary (Technical) Ms. Shumaila Manzoor also contributed to the discussions. The Secretary emphasized the need to further enhance monitoring processes and ensure that all pre-smog initiatives are carried out promptly throughout Punjab, aiming to reduce the harmful impacts of smog on public health and the environment.
