Dengue control stepped up as Punjab ministers order daily field monitoring, geotagging of hot spots and intensified spraying to prevent outbreaks.

The provincial government convened a high-level meeting on dengue and infectious diseases chaired by Khawaja Salman Rafiq and Khawaja Imran Nazir, where the latest situation across Punjab was examined and urgent measures were ordered. Secretary Health and Population Nadia Saqib, Deputy Commissioner Lahore Syed Musa Raza and senior officials from all relevant departments attended in person, while commissioners, deputy commissioners, CEOs of health and medical experts joined through video link.

Officials presented a detailed review of the current dengue situation provincewide and evaluated ongoing preparedness and response activities. Emphasis was placed on ensuring the dengue control framework is effectively implemented across districts and that reporting channels remain robust and timely.

Khawaja Imran Nazir directed that monitoring teams remain deployed in the field on a daily basis and that the reporting system be made more effective to track cases and vector breeding sites. He instructed authorities to continue geotagging identified hot spots, maintain uninterrupted spray operations and uphold both indoor and outdoor surveillance without any lapse.

Khawaja Salman Rafiq warned that even minor lapses during seasonal change can have serious consequences, calling on all departments to stay alert. He praised the dedication of doctors, nurses, paramedical staff and field workers for their role in dengue control and emergency response.

Both ministers stressed the need for strengthened coordination between districts, quicker decision making at local levels and more active public awareness campaigns to educate communities about prevention measures. The provincial leadership underlined that sustained monitoring, timely interventions and community engagement are central to controlling dengue across Punjab.
