Rashid Malik and Khurram Imtiaz emerged victorious in the singles events at the ITF World Masters Tour MT200 in Khao Lak, adding to Pakistan’s growing presence on the veteran tennis circuit. The tournament, played on the hard courts of the Robinson Hotel Khao Lak, showcased strong baseline tennis and disciplined serving from the top seeds.
In the Men’s Singles 60+ final Rashid Malik produced a commanding display to defeat Switzerland’s Hannes Aeberhard 6-1, 6-1. The match featured long baseline rallies where Malik’s serve proved a decisive weapon, allowing him to dictate play and close out the match in straight sets despite extended exchanges.
Khurram Imtiaz secured the Men’s Singles 55+ crown after receiving a walkover from Switzerland’s Oliver Marjanovic, who withdrew due to illness. The victory marks Khurram’s second ITF title in the 55+ category and underlines his consistency on the veterans circuit.
Earlier, the doubles pairing of Waqar Nisar and Boguslaw Stachurski represented Pakistan with determination but were edged out in the Men’s Doubles 55+ semi-finals. They fell 0-6, 7-6, 6-10 to the Swiss–German duo of Oliver Marjanovic and Andreas Petermann in a closely fought match.
The event, sponsored by the Bank of Punjab for the Pakistani contingent, highlights the importance of continued support for veteran athletes. Performances like these at the ITF Masters level reinforce Pakistan’s visibility in international veteran tennis and provide encouraging signals for players and supporters back home.
