DG RDA vows swift action for University Town affectees, orders departments to act, reopens blocked road and coordinates with NAB to protect citizens.

The Director General of the Rawalpindi Development Authority, Kinza Murtaza, convened a meeting with affectees of the University Town Housing Scheme to address long-standing grievances and outline immediate steps for relief. Attendees raised concerns about plot allotments, plot positions, possession of areas and incomplete development works affecting residents across the country.

Following directions from Secretary Housing Noor-ul-Amin Mengal, the DG instructed that all matters related to University Town be resolved on a priority basis and within the shortest possible time. Efforts will focus on finalizing plot allotments, confirming plot positions and delivering possession where due, alongside completion of outstanding development work.

Officers from Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering, Estate Management and other relevant RDA departments were directed to perform their duties fearlessly and pursue strict, indiscriminate action against illegal elements undermining approved schemes. To ease access problems, the Authority announced plans to reopen a blocked access road through the Eighteen Housing Scheme, a move expected to relieve significant inconvenience for residents near University Town.

A formal letter has been dispatched to the National Accountability Bureau regarding the University Town matter to ensure institutional oversight where required. The DG underscored RDA’s commitment to impartial and decisive action to protect citizens’ rights, enforce urban development laws and eliminate fraud and corruption while strengthening internal accountability and transparency.

Citizens were strongly advised to avoid investments in unapproved housing schemes and to carry out transactions only with authorized projects listed on the official RDA website rda.gop.pk. The meeting reaffirmed the Authority’s pledge to expedite resolutions for affectees and to provide regular public guidance on legitimate housing options.

Those present included Director Estate Management Aabgeenay Khan, Deputy Director Estate Management Masood Arshad, Deputy Director Admin Waqar Ahmed, Deputy Director Town Planning Ali Raza, Chairman University Town Affectees Committee Umar Siddique Khattak, other RDA officers and affectees from across Pakistan.
