Runway Safety Team Meeting Enhances Standards at BKIAP

A Runway Safety Team meeting was conducted at Bacha Khan International Airport (BKIAP) in Peshawar discussing critical aviation safety standards and operational efficiency. Leaders and representatives from the airport authority, airlines, security forces, and ground handling agencies participated actively, pledging concerted efforts to jointly enhance runway safety standards.

The meeting was chaired by the Airport Manager, who is also the Chief Operating Officer, and was carried out by the Manager Airside. Senior personnel and representatives from various vital organizations attended, including the Deputy Airport Manager, Senior Air Traffic Control Officer from the Pakistan Air Force (SATCO PAF), Airport Security Force (ASF), Chairman of the Airline Operators Committee (AOC), several airline representatives, ground handling agencies (GHAs), and officials from relevant departments within the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA).

Participants engaged actively in discussions covering crucial areas related to runway and airside operational safety. Key agenda items involved a comprehensive review of safety performance at the airport, detailed analysis of runway and taxiway incursions and excursions, and steps for mitigating bird hazards along with other environmental concerns. Additionally, apron management and adherence to airside operational rules were addressed, along with strategies to effectively reduce the presence of Foreign Object Debris (FOD) at airside areas.

Throughout the meeting, attendees presented insightful observations, pragmatic recommendations, and constructive feedback, showcasing their commitment to improving operational protocols. Stakeholders explicitly stated their determination to collaborate on decisive follow-up actions, aiming to strengthen runway safety standards and uphold Bacha Khan International Airport’s reputation as a safe hub for aviation activity.
