RAWALPINDI: Dr Daniel Saud of South Dakota State University (SDSU), Brookings, USA, visited Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) and called on Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Qamar-uz-Zaman to explore opportunities for strengthening academic and research collaboration between the two institutions.
Welcoming the visiting scholar, the Vice Chancellor briefed him on the university’s academic programmes, research strengths and international linkages. He said PMAS-AAUR was focusing on innovation and technology-driven solutions to agricultural and environmental challenges.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed possible cooperation in agricultural sciences, geospatial technologies, remote sensing, climate-smart agriculture, joint research, student and faculty exchange, and capacity building.
Dr Saud also visited various research facilities of the university and interacted with faculty members and researchers. He was briefed on ongoing projects and emerging technologies being used in the fields of agriculture, food security, climate resilience and sustainable resource management.
Appreciating the university’s research and innovation initiatives, Dr Saud expressed interest in developing mutually beneficial institutional linkages.
Both sides emphasised the importance of international academic partnerships in promoting collaborative research, knowledge exchange and opportunities for students and researchers.
The university administration expressed its commitment to strengthening international partnerships and expanding opportunities with leading institutions around the world.
