Mr Mudassar Javed, CEO of SHARP, participated in a three-day SBCC training organised by IOM Pakistan in Murree, aimed at enhancing innovative communication for social impact. The event brought together communication practitioners and humanitarian actors to build practical skills for behaviour change work across Pakistani communities.
The curriculum combined theory with hands-on practice, covering problem-solving through storytelling, stakeholder mapping, behaviour change models and empathy mapping. Participants progressed to intervention design and campaign development using the EAST Model and the Hero’s Journey approach, ensuring strategies remained human-centred and evidence-informed.
Practical elements of the SBCC training included group activities, role plays, prototyping labs, digital spotlight discussions and reflection circles to help teams translate ideas into actionable communication interventions. These exercises gave attendees direct experience in designing and testing messages and tactics for behaviour change.
Reflecting on the programme, Mr Mudassar Javed welcomed the interactive format and the set of tools provided to craft impactful communication strategies. He said the learning from the SBCC training will reinforce SHARP’s efforts to raise awareness, foster empathy and drive positive social change in the communities the organisation serves.
The session concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony led by the IOM team, underscoring a shared commitment to capacity building and transformative communication approaches within Pakistan’s humanitarian and development sectors.
