A major gathering of young leaders from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SHOS) member countries took place in Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan, bringing together more than 200 participants to promote collaboration in creative industries, entrepreneurship, and youth policy. The event was organized by Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Culture and Information, aiming to strengthen youth networks and encourage the exchange of ideas for business and startups.
Key government and organizational representatives attended, including the Chairman of the Committee on Youth and Family Affairs and the Deputy Akim of East Kazakhstan Region. Delegates from the SHOS Secretariat and the youth wing of Kazakhstan’s ruling party, Amanat, were present. Their joint presence underscored the importance placed on youth empowerment and international cooperation within the region.
The forum featured major sessions such as a plenary meeting focusing on best practices in youth policy and a panel discussion on how policy institutions can help prevent drug addiction among young people. During these discussions, attendees shared their experiences and explored strategies for addressing the unique challenges facing young people today.
Adviser Jiao Huaisin from the SHOS Secretariat highlighted the significance of ongoing exchanges and partnerships among SHOS countries. He emphasized the value of key initiatives, including the “SHOS Model,” “Young Leaders Forum,” “SHOS Youth Camp,” the Student Art Festival, “Youth Entrepreneurship Exchange Base,” and the International Youth Entrepreneurship Incubator project. These efforts, he said, play a vital role in fostering innovation, leadership, and economic opportunity for youth across the region.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from all parties to deepen youth engagement, encourage creative and entrepreneurial initiatives, and support policies that respond to the needs of young people in SHOS member states.
