Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar marked the International Day of the Girl Child 2025 by celebrating the strength, courage and leadership of Pakistan’s girls, highlighting their role in shaping a brighter national future. He referenced this year’s theme “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead” to underline that girls are active drivers of progress and not merely recipients of development.
Tarar reiterated that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, the Government of Pakistan remains committed to empowering the Girl Child through focused action on education, health, protection and equal opportunities. The minister emphasised that sustainable progress depends on ensuring every girl has access to the resources and rights needed to lead with confidence and dignity.
Reflecting on the day, he said, “girls are not just beneficiaries of progress, they are its true drivers,” calling on institutions and communities across Pakistan to support policies and programmes that lift girls and remove barriers to their full participation. The message framed the Girl Child as central to national development and social justice.
Tarar urged a renewed resolve to build a Pakistan where every Girl Child is safe, valued and empowered to lead, stressing that collective effort from government, civil society and families is essential to translate commitment into tangible change for girls across the country.
