A tree-planting ceremony was held at the Government Degree College Matta in Upper Swat as part of celebrations for Markha-e-Haq and Independence Week. The event aimed to promote environmental awareness and encourage students to contribute to a greener society.
College Principal Rafiullah Khan served as the chief guest and officially launched the plantation drive by planting a fig sapling on the college premises. The event was attended by Sub-Divisional Forest Officer Salahuddin Wazir, field staff from the Matta Forest Subdivision in Upper Swat, faculty members, and students.
During the event, various fruit trees including lemon, plum, guava, and apple were planted on the grounds. To further support the initiative, saplings were distributed among students, including 10 apple, 10 pear, 15 guava, 10 walnut, 5 fig, 15 plum, 10 lemon, and 10 grape plants.
Organizers emphasized that such activities not only help create a more environment-friendly community but also raise awareness among the youth about the importance of planting and taking care of trees.
