The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the TVET Sector Support Programme hosted the inaugural annual conference to jointly shape Pakistan’s technical and vocational education and training system and prepare a skilled workforce for the future.

Atif Akram Sheikh, President FPCCI, said the gathering reflects a shared mission to change the country’s economic trajectory through skills development. He stressed that Pakistan’s youth possess enormous potential and must be provided practical opportunities to progress, with a special focus on youth skills development and vocational training.

Sheikh emphasised that establishing a sustainable platform under FPCCI to maintain public-private dialogue is an immediate priority. He called for workforce preparation aligned directly with market needs and highlighted renewable energy, textiles, agriculture and hospitality as key growth sectors where targeted training can drive national development.

FPCCI announced plans to deliver web-based training to one thousand members from various chambers and traders’ organisations, aiming to scale up enterprise-ready skills across the business community. The conference brought together senior FPCCI leadership including Senior Vice President Saqib Fayyaz Magoon, Vice President Tariq Jadoon, Quratulain, Capital Office Chairman Karim Aziz Malik, Coordination Chairman Malik Sohail and other stakeholders from industry and academia.

The European Union ambassador to Pakistan underlined ongoing cooperation between the EU, local partners and NAVTTC on skills development initiatives. He affirmed support for programmes that prepare a skilled workforce and called for close, sustained collaboration between public and private sectors to meet future needs and manage technology transformation.

Senior Vice President Saqib Fayyaz Magoon said the conference aims to bridge the gap between industry requirements and youth skills. He urged stronger academia-industry collaboration and reiterated the need for a durable platform for public-private dialogue to ensure that TVET Pakistan delivers measurable results for employment and economic growth.

The event highlighted a practical roadmap for aligning training with market demand, expanding digital and web-based delivery, and leveraging international partnerships to build a workforce capable of supporting Pakistan’s priority sectors. Stakeholders agreed that coordinated action on TVET Pakistan can accelerate youth employment and contribute to broader economic resilience.
