Gallery #6 at the National Art Gallery in Islamabad welcomed a solo exhibition by emerging artist Zamar Shahid on Thursday 7 May 2026, attracting a wide turnout of artists, students and members of the cultural community.

The inauguration was led by Mr Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture, who was accompanied by Muhammad Ayoub Jamali, Director General of PNCA. The minister commended the creative vision and technical excellence in the showcased works and underlined the role of young artists in promoting Pakistan’s cultural heritage through contemporary expression. He also reiterated PNCA’s commitment to supporting emerging talent and providing platforms for artistic innovation and cultural dialogue.

Originally from Balochistan and a Fine Arts graduate of BUITEMS, Zamar Shahid merges the aesthetics of classical miniature painting with contemporary experimentation. Her practice introduces distinctive techniques including canvas floral, tear and fire and engineering painting, reflecting both technical skill and conceptual depth in a modern Pakistani context.

Particularly striking in the exhibition are the gold-leaf miniature depictions of world mosques, which demonstrate meticulous precision and craftsmanship while maintaining a strong connection to cultural memory and architectural heritage.

Zamar Shahid’s work has been presented on national and international platforms and has earned recognition such as the Maymar-e-Watan Award and an Active Citizenship Certificate from the British Council. Through her creative practice she continues to foster cultural dialogue and inspire young women pursuing careers in the arts.

The exhibition ZAMO’S runs at Gallery #6, PNCA, National Art Gallery, Islamabad until 14 May 2026. It is open to the public daily from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
