IOM Pakistan Leads Campaign Against Digital Violence

IOM Pakistan confronts digital violence during 16 Days of Activism with partners to promote digital safety, protection and gender equality nationwide.

IOM Pakistan actively participated in the global 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence, organizing a series of events across the country to confront digital violence and strengthen community protections. In partnership with UNFPA Pakistan, UNHCR Pakistan and local organisations, IOM reinforced its commitment to protection, digital safety and gender equality at provincial and district levels.

The campaign theme Unite to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls highlighted the urgent need to address online abuse, from cyber harassment and stalking to exploitation, misinformation and other digital threats. Organisers emphasised practical steps for prevention and the importance of policy and community responses to reduce harm in digital spaces.

Women, girls, men and boys took part in community sessions and collaborative activities designed to raise awareness, share local solutions and promote safer online environments. Discussions focused on survivor dignity, emotional well being and shared responsibility among families, service providers and authorities to respond effectively to incidents of digital violence.

IOM Pakistan reiterated its dedication to fostering safe, inclusive and empowering environments for all, noting that protecting women and girls from digital violence requires sustained action, digital literacy, and community engagement across the country.
