Federal Minister of Health Mustafa Kamal visited PIMS and Polyclinic hospitals to review medical response for the victims of the suicide blast at an Imam Bargah in Islamabad. He inspected emergency wards, operation theatres and patient care arrangements as teams continued round-the-clock work to stabilise the injured.
According to the minister and hospital sources, 149 cases were received at PIMS, including 28 dead bodies. At PIMS 121 injured patients are under treatment, of whom 25 are in critical condition. Polyclinic received 4 dead bodies and 13 injured patients, with 4 of those in critical condition.
Mustafa Kamal said hospitals were placed on alert immediately after the incident and senior officers from the Ministry of Health are monitoring the situation. He emphasised that there has been no negligence in the medical response and that all necessary resources have been mobilised to treat the wounded.
Facilities at PIMS include 10 fully operational operating theatres and a full complement of surgeons, doctors, nurses and paramedical staff. The teams have completed 20 major operations so far with another 4 to 6 procedures currently underway. More than 60 bottles of blood have been transferred to treat the injured, and medicines and supplies are reported to be adequate.
Mustafa Kamal offered condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for the departed, asking for patience and strength for the bereaved. He also urged the public to support relief efforts and expressed confidence in the hospitals’ ability to handle the emergency.
The minister reiterated that the priority remains caring for the injured and ensuring that emergency services continue without interruption, with teams working tirelessly to provide timely treatment and follow-up care to those affected by the blast.
