A memorandum of understanding was signed in Sialkot between the city’s business community and Cancer Care Hospital Lahore to establish breast cancer diagnostic and treatment services within the city, reducing the need for patients to travel to larger centres.
The agreement was signed on behalf of Friends of Sialkot by prominent businessmen Khawar Anwar Khawaja and Fazal Jillani, with the management team of Cancer Care Hospital Lahore present at the ceremony to finalise operational plans.
Under the MoU, Cancer Care Hospital Lahore will deploy its expert medical team, advanced technology and modern treatment methods to provide diagnostic, consultation and treatment services for breast cancer patients in Sialkot. The aim is to ensure timely detection and care so that women receive quality breast cancer treatment close to home.
As part of the initiative, coordinated awareness campaigns will be launched across the district to educate women on early symptoms, screening options and preventive measures. Localised awareness is expected to improve early diagnosis rates and reduce late-stage presentations.
Representatives of Friends of Sialkot reiterated the business community’s long-standing role in welfare projects and pledged continued support for health, education and social services in the region. The partnership with Cancer Care Hospital Lahore was described as a strategic step toward strengthening healthcare infrastructure in Sialkot.
Civic and social circles welcomed the agreement, noting that accessible breast cancer services will ease pressure on families and may save lives by providing timely and quality treatment to women in Sialkot and surrounding areas.
