RAWALPINDI: Chairman Pakistan Tehreek Shad Bad Dr Muhammad Hanif Mughal has said that development is not possible without providing a prosperous life to the people.
Speaking during a meeting with people from different walks of life, including Dr Saleem Mughal, Malik Rafiq Awan, Rashid Bhatti and others, Dr Hanif Mughal said there was an urgent need to address inflation, poverty and unemployment, reduce prices of petroleum products, and end sit-ins and protests.
He said measures for economic development and the establishment of peace and order in the country were the need of the hour.
Dr Hanif Mughal said the “genie of inflation” was not being controlled because policies were being implemented without proper planning. He added that the country needed educated public representatives who could provide relief to the people from inflation.
He said Pakistan Tehreek Shad Bad would continue its practical struggle and keep raising its voice for bringing forward educated and new leadership.
Dr Hanif Mughal further said his party supported the devolution of powers to the councillor level. Referring to the local government system proposed by his party, he said the first point was that the elected councillor in every union council would collect taxes.
He said this would form the basis for not only preventing tax evasion but also ensuring that development work was carried out at the local level through the councillor.
“Our local government system will be the strongest,” he said.
