Health Regulation Leaders Discuss National Health Situation

Chairman HRA and Health Services Academy meet to strengthen health regulation and medical education through joint projects, reforms and institutional cooperation.

Dr. Riaz Ahmed Janjua, Chairman of the Health Regulatory Authority, received Dr. Shahzad Khan, Vice Chancellor of the Health Services Academy, in Islamabad along with a delegation that included Dr. Faisal and Dr. Noman Shah to review the country’s health landscape.

The meeting focused on the current health situation, the quality of medical education and the role of effective healthcare regulation in raising standards across public and private institutions. Participants examined how strengthened oversight and updated regulatory frameworks can support better patient care and professional training.

The Chairman underscored the Authority’s commitment to reforms, transparency and the provision of quality medical facilities for the public. Emphasis was placed on practical steps to implement regulatory improvements that align with national health priorities and support accountability across healthcare providers.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Shahzad Khan outlined ongoing projects and research activities at the Health Services Academy and highlighted the need for close collaboration between academic institutions and regulators. He stressed that coordinated efforts are essential to elevate medical education standards and to ensure that graduates meet the evolving needs of Pakistan’s health system.

Both sides agreed to expand mutual cooperation through joint initiatives aimed at bolstering the health sector, enhancing training and research, and reinforcing mechanisms for continuous improvement in health regulation and service delivery.
