Muhammad Shoaib clinched the ITF Futures singles title in Islamabad, ending a 20-year wait and marking a major breakthrough for Pakistan tennis.

Muhammad Shoaib produced a memorable win at the Flair Travel ITF Men’s Futures M-15 Championships 2026 conducted in memory of the late Khawaja Iftikhar Ahmad, held at the PTF Tennis Complex in Islamabad from 26th to 3rd May 2026. In a thrilling final watched by a packed home crowd, Shoaib defeated Russia’s Nikita Ianin 7-6(7), 4-6, 6-2 to claim the singles crown.

This triumph ends a 20-year wait for Pakistan in ITF Futures singles success, as Shoaib becomes the first Pakistani since Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and Aqeel Khan to lift an ITF Futures singles title. The result is being hailed as a significant milestone for local player development and a sign of growing strength in Pakistan tennis.

Reflecting on his victory, Muhammad Shoaib said, “I thank Almighty Allah for this achievement and for giving me the opportunity to make Pakistan proud on home soil. It was an amazing final, and Insha’Allah I will continue this momentum.” He also expressed gratitude to the President PTF and Secretary General PTF for their continuous support.

President of the Pakistan Tennis Federation Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, together with Secretary General Zia-ud-din Tufail and the PTF management, congratulated Shoaib on his outstanding achievement. Qureshi said he was very proud that after a long gap, following his own and Aqeel Khan’s successes, Pakistan has a new singles champion at an ITF Futures event. He noted that the federation’s focus on player development and hosting international tournaments at home is creating valuable opportunities for local players to earn ATP points and showcase their talent.

Qureshi added that the tournament holds special meaning as it was conducted in memory of his late grandfather, Mr. Khawaja Iftikhar Ahmad, and he welcomed the fact that both singles and doubles titles were won by Pakistani players. The PTF extended sincere thanks to all sponsors and media partners, with particular acknowledgement of PTV Sports, Myco, Geo Super and the Islamabad Police for their support in staging the event.

The Flair Travel ITF Men’s Futures M-15 Championships featured 70 men’s players from 23 countries, including Pakistan, Kuwait, Russia, Uzbekistan, Sweden, Austria, Malaysia, Great Britain, Italy, Lithuania, China, Turkey, Algeria, Canada, USA, Ireland, Poland, Hong Kong, Nepal, Greece, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and Japan.
