Semi-finalists have been confirmed in the PSA Satellite Men’s Squash Championship as second seed Ins Khan, top seed Ins Ali Shah, Saeed Abdul and Kaleemullah Shoaib advanced to the final four following quarter-final wins at the Public School Hyderabad Gymnasium. The PSA Satellite field produced tight contests and commanding victories as players fought for the last four berths.
Second seed Ins Khan prevailed in a 53-minute five-game match against Naveed Rehman, winning 8-11, 11-3, 11-9, 9-11, 11-5 to secure his semi-final spot. Ins Ali Shah also survived a close battle to edge past Israr Ahmed 3-2, while Saeed Abdul defeated Shimlan Gul by the same margin. Kaleemullah Shoaib produced a polished performance to beat Faizan Khan 3-0 and book his place in the last four.
The National Junior Squash Championship, running alongside the PSA Satellite event, saw a string of upsets at the Public School Hyderabad venue that reshaped the juvenile draws. In Boys Under-11, Sindh’s M. Aban stunned top seed Atif Ali Naz of PAF 3-1, while fellow Sindh player M. Bin Naseem upset second seed Abdul Karim of Punjab by the same score. They join KP’s M. Aaliyan and Abu Bakar Siddiqui in the semi-finals.
In the Boys Under-15 division, top seed M. Faizan Khan (Army) edged KP’s Fawad Khan 3-2 and Muhammad Hussain of Punjab overcame Abdul Rehman 3-2. M. Bin Atif advanced with a 3-0 win over Jasim, and SNGPL’s Huzaifa Shahid caused a notable upset by defeating second seed Danish Sikandar (KP) 3-1 to reach the semis.
Women’s matches were dominated by Sindh players as top seed Damia Khan beat Saheema Fatima 3-0, Dua Nazakat defeated Zanera Imran 3-0, Inam Mustafa overcame KP’s Hiba Imtiaz 3-0 and Vaishnavi triumphed over Aiman Fatima 3-0, with all four advancing comfortably to the semi-finals.
In Boys Under-19 action, top seed Adnan Zaman (Sindh) recorded a 3-0 win over Balochistan’s Ismatullah, while Abdul Basit Khan beat Punjab’s Daniyal 3-0. Abdullah Nadeem secured a 3-1 victory over Habib and second seed Zaman Khan (SNGPL) defeated Varun Asif 3-0 to confirm his place in the last four.
All quarter-final matches across categories were played in the presence of Sindh Squash Association Secretary Naveed Rehman, Senior Vice President Shabbar Gul Khattak, Joint Secretary Rehan Sheikh, referee M. Fawad and other officials, with former secretary Muhammad Amir and Muhammad Naseem also among those on site. A group photograph captured players and officials together during the quarter-finals at the venue.
All semi-final matches are scheduled for today as the PSA Satellite field narrows down to finalists. The National Junior Squash Championship, organised under the Sindh Squash Association, carries a total prize purse of PKR 100,000 across four junior categories, while the PSA Satellite Men’s Championship offers a prize of $1,000.
