Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting, Barrister Danyal Chaudhry, inaugurated merit-based cricket trials for the Rawalpindi Division Grade-II team, saying the initiative is part of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s plan to strengthen sports across Punjab.
He stressed that ‘Talent will be the only criterion’ and underlined that the selection process has been organised to be fully transparent so that every aspiring player receives a fair opportunity. The focus on merit and openness aims to rebuild confidence among local cricketers and stakeholders.
The players selected from these Rawalpindi cricket trials will receive world-class training facilities, professional coaching and the necessary resources provided by the Punjab government. Officials say the talent hunt will be rolled out to all divisions of the province to ensure equal opportunities for youth across Punjab.
Danyal Chaudhry expressed confidence that the programme will cultivate players capable of bringing honour to Pakistan at national and international levels. The event was attended by MNA Tahira Aurangzeb, Director General Ahmed Hassan Ranjha of the Horticulture Agency, Punjab Sports Board officials, coaches and a large turnout of players, with the parliamentary secretary praising the institutional coordination behind the initiative.
