PHC Bannu Bench nullifies Dilawar FIR as baseless, ruling the anti-corruption case illegal amid Toshakhana tensions. Read the court outcome.

A two-member bench of the Peshawar High Court Bannu Bench set aside the FIR registered under the Anti-Corruption law against Judge Humayun Dilawar and his brother, describing the allegations as baseless and illegal.

The FIR had been lodged by the PTI provincial government after Judge Dilawar’s role in the sentencing of PTI founder Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in the Toshakhana case, and was challenged in court by the judge and his brother as retaliatory and fabricated. The matter was heard by Justice Tariq Afridi and Justice Sabitullah, with Sawal Nazir Khan, Advocate Supreme Court, representing the petitioners and Additional Advocate Generals Inam ur Rehman and Asghar Ahmadzai appearing for the provincial government.

After hearing extensive arguments the bench nullified the Dilawar FIR, a verdict being viewed as significant in the broader legal and political disputes involving PTI and the judiciary. Observers say the ruling will be watched closely for its possible implications on the use of anti-corruption provisions in politically sensitive cases.
