Islamabad: The National Assembly Standing Committee on National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination was informed by the Federal Minister for National Health Services and officials of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) that there is no proposal to delay the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT).The committee was told that the government is closely monitoring the situation in AJK and that any decision, if required, will be taken by the Health Minister in light of the prevailing circumstances.The Minister and PMDC officials informed the committee that the MDCAT registration deadline is likely to be extended by three to five days to facilitate students.The committee was further informed that more than 3,000 candidates registered for the AJK MDCAT last year, while over 2,300 students have already registered this year.The Minister assured the committee that the interests of students would be protected and that a formal announcement regarding the registration extension would be made after the necessary consultations.
