Chamkani Beat Cantt Two 3-0 to Win Peshawar Inter-School Hockey Title

Chamkani won the Peshawar Inter-School Hockey Tournament after beating Cantt Two 3-0 in the final.

PESHAWAR: Chamkani clinched the Peshawar Inter-School Hockey Tournament title after defeating Cantt Two 3-0 in the final played in Peshawar.

The tournament was organised by the Directorate of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as part of the U-15 National School Hockey Tournament. Teams from various schools participated in the event and displayed their hockey skills with enthusiasm.

The final between Chamkani and Cantt Two produced an exciting and competitive contest. Chamkani, however, put up an impressive performance and remained dominant throughout the match to secure the championship.

Chamkani adopted an attacking approach from the outset and kept pressure on their opponents through strong teamwork, quick passing and solid defensive play. The side scored three goals, while Cantt Two made efforts to stage a comeback but failed to score.

At the prize distribution ceremony, Chamkani received a cash prize of Rs15,000 along with the winners’ trophy. Runner-up Cantt Two were awarded Rs10,000 and the runners-up trophy.

District Sports Officer Peshawar Ahmad Zaman was the chief guest on the occasion. Office-bearers of the Hockey Association, including Zahir Shah Lala and Zia Buneri, other officials and distinguished guests were also present. The chief guest and other guests distributed prizes among the winning and runner-up teams and appreciated the players for their performances.

Speaking on the occasion, Ahmad Zaman said organising hockey competitions at the school level was highly important for identifying and developing young talent and providing promising players with opportunities to compete at national and international levels.

He said the Directorate of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was continuing to organise various sports competitions to promote sports and encourage the younger generation to take part in healthy and constructive activities.

Ahmad Zaman added that U-15 competitions not only encouraged emerging talent but also provided young athletes with an effective platform to demonstrate their abilities. He congratulated all participating teams, players, coaches, officials and representatives of the Hockey Association on the successful organisation of the tournament.

Participants appreciated the initiatives of the Directorate of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for promoting school hockey. They said the continuation of such competitions would help develop a sporting culture among young people and play an important role in identifying new hockey talent in the province.

At the conclusion of the event, players and officials of the winning Chamkani team received the championship trophy and cash prize, while the runner-up Cantt Two team was also presented with a trophy and cash prize. The players thanked the organisers for successfully conducting the tournament.
