In a significant diplomatic milestone, Pakistan’s High Commissioner Muhammad Saleem presented his Letters of Credence to the Governor General of Saint Christopher (St. Kitts) and Nevis, Dame Marcella A. Liburd, at an official ceremony held at the Government House in Basseterre. This event marks the formal initiation of diplomatic engagement since relations between the two countries were officially established.

During the credentials ceremony, High Commissioner Saleem extended cordial greetings from Pakistan’s leadership and its people to the Governor General as well as the citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis. He reiterated Pakistan’s determination to nurture a dynamic and forward-looking relationship with the Caribbean nation, highlighting the mutual advantages that could result from increased bilateral cooperation.

Mr. Muhammad Saleem, who serves as Pakistan’s High Commissioner based in Ottawa, Canada, is concurrently accredited as Pakistan’s non-resident High Commissioner to St. Kitts and Nevis. With diplomatic relations having commenced in January 2024, Mr. Saleem has the honor of being Pakistan’s inaugural envoy accredited to the Federation. Recognizing this as an essential beginning, he stressed Pakistan’s eagerness to reinforce newly formed diplomatic ties and establish cooperative partnerships across several sectors, including political dialogue, trade exchanges, investment opportunities, developmental initiatives, and tourism.

The formal presentation of credentials is viewed as a historic landmark in diplomatic interactions between Pakistan and St. Kitts and Nevis. Officials from both sides express optimism about evolving these newly established relations into robust and beneficial programmes of collaboration in the years ahead.
