Standing water left after rain accelerates mosquito breeding and raises the risk of dengue, prompting the District Health Office Islamabad, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, to carry out intensified dengue sweep operations across high-risk neighborhoods and citywide. Field teams are conducting door-to-door surveillance, larval elimination, spraying and fogging, and community awareness activities to curb transmission.

Health teams are visiting homes to identify and eliminate mosquito breeding sites, treat standing water for mosquito larvae, and conduct targeted space spraying and fogging in affected areas. Public education campaigns accompany these field operations to inform residents about signs of dengue, how it spreads, and how to report suspected cases.

Authorities urge residents to take simple, effective precautions to reduce mosquito exposure and breeding around the home. Clean water-holding containers, tanks, plant pots and coolers daily; wear long-sleeved clothing when outdoors; use insecticide sprays or topical repellents; sleep under mosquito nets; and install screens on windows and doors to keep mosquitoes out.

Local officials stress that community cooperation is essential to control dengue. By eliminating breeding sites and following preventive measures, residents can significantly lower the risk of dengue transmission and help keep their neighborhoods safe.
