ISLAMABAD: Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting Barrister Danyal Chaudhry has said that direct flights between Pakistan and Nepal should be restored to strengthen air connectivity and further enhance bilateral ties.
He expressed these views during a meeting of the Pakistan-Nepal-Bhutan Parliamentary Friendship Group held at Parliament House, Islamabad. The meeting was chaired by the group’s Convener and Member National Assembly Dr Mahesh Kumar Malani.
The meeting reviewed bilateral relations, trade links and mutual cooperation between Pakistan and Nepal.
Barrister Danyal Chaudhry said restoration of direct air links between the two countries would help make the routes economically viable and create new opportunities for people-to-people contact, trade and tourism.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador of Nepal to Pakistan H.E. Ms Rita Dhital and parliamentarians Shahzada Muhammad Gushtasap Khan, Muhammad Mubin Arif, Muhammad Usman Badini, Shaista Khan, Dr Darshan, Isfandyar M. Bhandara, Ramesh Lal and Farah Akbar.
Participants emphasised the need to promote people-to-people contacts, cultural exchange programmes and increase educational scholarships between Pakistan and Nepal.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms Rita Dhital said Pakistan and Nepal enjoyed longstanding and brotherly relations. She said both countries could take their friendly ties to new heights by expanding cooperation in various fields.
The Nepalese ambassador said there were vast opportunities for bilateral cooperation that could further strengthen people-to-people connections between the two countries.
