UNFPA Pakistan and the Population Council continued stakeholder consultations for Gilgit-Baltistan’s Population Policy 2025, convening local officials and sector representatives to gather input for an inclusive, evidence-based policy tailored to the region’s needs.
The consultations are part of a coordinated effort by UNFPA Pakistan and the Population Council to develop a Population Policy for Gilgit-Baltistan that draws on local evidence and stakeholder perspectives. The process aims to ensure the policy reflects the region’s social and demographic priorities and is grounded in data and broad-based consultation.
Dilshad Bano, Minister for Social Welfare, Population, and Women Development, Gilgit-Baltistan, chaired a consultative session where representatives from the Department of Social Welfare, the Population Welfare Department, and other local stakeholders shared insights and recommendations. Participants discussed priorities and considerations to inform the policy’s objectives and implementation approaches.
Inputs from this and other consultations will be consolidated to help shape a final Population Policy 2025 for Gilgit-Baltistan that is inclusive, evidence-based, and responsive to the needs of the region.
