The Pakistan Sports Board has formally notified the Pakistan Tennis Federation regarding the reconciliation and adjustment of grants totaling Rs. 41,252,072 (forty-one million two hundred fifty-two thousand and seventy-two rupees) released across the financial years 2022–23, 2023–24 and 2024–25 as part of an ongoing grant reconciliation process.
An internal review conducted by the PSB Internal Audit Wing, in accordance with the Pakistan Sports Board Constitution 2022 and applicable financial rules, found that the Pakistan Tennis Federation did not submit the required adjustment accounts within prescribed timelines. The audit also noted the absence of essential supporting documentation such as original receipts, invoices and vouchers related to the utilisation of the grants, undermining efforts at transparent grant reconciliation.
The Board has recorded that, in the absence of proper reconciliation and verifiable documentation, the full amount of Rs. 41,252,072 remains outstanding and unreconciled in official records. This shortfall has been flagged as a breach of the financial management and governance standards that apply to public funding for sports bodies.
To address the unresolved liability, the PSB has instructed that the outstanding sum will be offset against any grants approved or released to the Pakistan Tennis Federation in the financial year 2025–26. Any funds disbursed in that year will first be applied to settle the outstanding balance until the full amount is reconciled, reflecting the Board’s approach to resolving the matter through financial adjustments.
The PSB has also directed the Pakistan Tennis Federation to strengthen internal controls and to adhere strictly to financial governance requirements, including dual-authority financial controls, designated authorized signatories and the maintenance of complete, verifiable documentation. The Federation was reminded of its obligation to prepare and publish audited financial statements in a timely manner as required by the governing regulatory framework.
Authorities cautioned that continued non-compliance could prompt further administrative measures, including suspension of future grants and other actions permitted under the relevant rules and constitutional provisions governing sports federations. A copy of the PSB communication has been shared with the Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination to ensure that future disbursements follow proper reconciliation and compliance procedures.
