An introductory meeting at the National Assembly chaired by Ms. Shaista Pervaiz, Convenor of the Parliamentary Task Force on the SDGs and Member of the National Assembly, finalised the action plan for the Hum Hain Pakistan SDG Youth Campaign aimed at embedding SDG education across Islamabad’s schools, colleges and universities.
Barrister Danyal Chaudhry, Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Information & Broadcasting, and Ms. Wajiha Qamar, Minister of State at the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, participated in the session and emphasised the need to connect national policy with grassroots youth initiatives. Barrister Danyal reaffirmed his commitment to turning policy into practical youth-led programmes under the Hum Hain Pakistan initiative.
The meeting outlined an Learning + Action model designed to shift students from classroom learning to active community engagement. Under this model, the campaign will support student-led SDG clubs, deliver teacher training modules and launch inter-school action projects to give students hands-on experience with sustainability and development goals.
The SDG Parliamentary Task Force will lead the campaign in collaboration with the International Governance and Sustainability Institute, the United Peacekeepers Federal Council and the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training. The initiative also aligns with the government’s Uraan Pakistan five-year economic plan and its 5E framework, linking student engagement to national priorities in Exports, E-Pakistan, Environment, Energy & Infrastructure, and Equity & Empowerment.
Organisers said the Hum Hain Pakistan campaign will begin roll-out activities in Islamabad educational institutions and will prioritise teacher capacity building and scalable student projects that contribute to Pakistan’s progress toward Agenda 2030.
