The Faculty of Education at International Islamic University Islamabad completed a three day AI workshop at the Faisal Mosque Campus aimed at strengthening AI literacy among faculty and postgraduate researchers. The training was organised in collaboration with the Pakistan US Alumni Network and supported by the US Mission to Pakistan to help teachers and scholars use AI responsibly in teaching, learning and research.
About 30 participants including faculty members and PhD and MS scholars participated in sessions designed to demonstrate how the AI workshop can support creativity, collaboration and critical inquiry in higher education. Practical demonstrations and hands on activities encouraged attendees to apply tools for lesson planning and student engagement.
Dr Muhammad Riaz served as lead trainer and led sessions on prompt engineering as well as AI applications in research and assessment. Dr Fouzia Ajmal guided interactive activities focused on classroom AI tools that support lesson design and active learning. Dr Muhammad Sher Baz Ali discussed research uses of AI while Dr Azhar Mahmood facilitated reflective discussions about classroom integration and ethical considerations.
The closing ceremony at the Allama Iqbal Auditorium was attended by Prof Dr Ahmed Saad Alahmed President IIUI who praised the Faculty of Education for promoting AI literacy. He noted that while an AI workshop can equip educators with useful answers and tools, it is teachers who awaken curiosity and nurture wisdom in students.
Dr Azhar Mahmood welcomed guests and highlighted that participants did more than learn theory they applied and critically evaluated AI tools. Dr Muhammad Riaz shared reflections on the training outcomes and Dr Fouzia Ajmal expressed gratitude to the Pakistan US Alumni Network and the US Mission to Pakistan for their support in delivering the AI workshop.
The event underscores the Faculty of Education commitment to integrating technology into teaching and research and aligns with IIUI values of combining faith and knowledge with modern learning tools to prepare educators for contemporary classrooms.
