Islamabad: inDrive, a global mobility and urban services platform, has partnered with Tech Valley, a Google for Education Premier Partner, to launch Digital Safar, a free online programme aimed at promoting digital safety and artificial intelligence literacy among children of inDrive drivers in Pakistan.
The initiative will benefit 300 children studying in grades 6 to 10 through a three-week programme featuring live online classes in Urdu. An in-person orientation for participating families will be held in Islamabad on October 17, before classes begin on October 19 and conclude on November 9, 2026.
Awais Saeed, Country Lead of inDrive Pakistan, said the company wanted to support the aspirations of its drivers for their children’s future.
“Our drivers work hard to build a better future for their children. Through Digital Safar, we want to support that aspiration by giving their children the skills to navigate the digital world safely, learn with confidence and make the most of new opportunities. We believe every child deserves the chance to be prepared for the future, regardless of their circumstances,” he said.
Umar Farooq, Founder and CEO of Tech Valley, said every child deserved to grow up digitally literate, safe and AI-ready, not only those with access to the best schools.
“Digital Safar is one of Tech Valley’s flagship programmes bringing Google’s digital-safety and AI curriculum straight to the children of inDrive’s driver families in Pakistan, building on a model already trusted by hundreds of thousands of learners across Pakistan. To me, this partnership enables real skills, real reach and real accountability,” he said.
Saba Kalsoom, Head of AI Strategy and Operations at Tech Valley, said the programme focused on helping children use the internet more safely and responsibly.
“What matters most to us is that children leave these sessions able to do something differently online. They will know how to spot a fake message, protect their accounts, and use Gemini as a learning partner instead of a shortcut. Our facilitators teach live, in Urdu, and every family is involved from the first day,” she said.
Digital Safar draws on Google’s “Be Internet Awesome” and “Gemini Academy” learning tracks. The programme combines digital citizenship, online safety and responsible use of artificial intelligence through interactive learning, group discussions and practical activities.
The “Be Internet Awesome” track, designed for students in grades 6 to 8, will focus on practical digital-safety skills. Through games, group discussions and hands-on activities, students will learn to share information responsibly, identify fake and phishing messages, and secure their online accounts. As a final task, participants will practise distinguishing genuine messages from fake ones and create a strong password they can remember.
The “Gemini Academy” track, designed for students in grades 8 to 10, will introduce participants to the use of Gemini as a learning partner while encouraging them to critically evaluate the information it provides. Students will learn to compare AI-generated responses with guidance from parents and teachers, consider when AI advice can be trusted, and develop their own digital identities. For their final project, they will create a personal Digital Citizenship Booklet using Gemini, featuring safety rules, online habits and slogans in their own words.
According to inDrive, Digital Safar marks an early step in its efforts to expand STEM education opportunities for the children of its drivers and local communities in Pakistan. The company said that through programmes focused on digital skills and technological literacy, it aims to make learning opportunities more accessible to young people.
inDrive said the initiative reflects its mission to challenge injustice and its commitment to fair choice, extending its focus beyond mobility to help the next generation develop skills relevant to an increasingly digital future.
