Iran Declares November 9 as “Allama Iqbal Day” in Its National Calendar, Honoring the Poet of the East

ISLAMABAD – The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, has announced that November 9 has officially been designated as “Allama Iqbal Day” in the Iranian Solar Calendar. The declaration marks a significant cultural tribute to Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the great poet-philosopher of the subcontinent, whose legacy continues to inspire generations across Iran, Pakistan, and the wider Muslim world.

In his message on the auspicious occasion, Ambassador Moghadam paid profound tribute to Allama Iqbal, describing him as a poet whose thought embodies both the spirit of Islam and the fragrance of Persian literature. He emphasized that Iqbal’s deep admiration for Persian language and culture built a timeless intellectual bridge between Iran and Pakistan.

The ambassador noted that Iqbal’s message of unity, faith, and spiritual awakening transcends borders, offering moral and philosophical guidance to nations striving for justice, dignity, and self-realization. “His vision about justice, knowledge, and spiritual awakening remains a timeless beacon for humanity,” he said, adding that Iran honors Iqbal not only as Pakistan’s national poet but as a shared spiritual and cultural figure of the entire Muslim world.

Ambassador Moghadam highlighted that Iran considers Iqbal a symbol of wisdom, brotherhood, and enlightenment—values that continue to strengthen the bond between Tehran and Islamabad. “On this day, we celebrate his enduring legacy as a symbol of wisdom, brotherhood, and the eternal bond between our two brotherly nations,” he remarked.

By formally recognizing November 9 as Allama Iqbal Day in Iran, the Iranian government has reaffirmed the poet’s profound influence on Persian thought and his enduring role in shaping philosophical and literary ties between the two nations.
