Jinnah Hospital receives a major medical donation as Senator Saleem Mandviwalla backs healthcare support and public service efforts in Karachi.

In Karachi, Senator Saleem Mandviwalla handed over a medical donation of essential supplies, surgical equipment, patient beds and other required items to the management of Jinnah Hospital in collaboration with PEI. The handover ceremony highlighted continued efforts to support public healthcare facilities facing pressure from growing patient needs.

Speaking on the occasion, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance and Revenue said the education and health sectors still face serious challenges. He noted that he had adopted 50 schools for transformation and improved functionality, and said the work is moving forward and nearing completion.

Senator Mandviwalla also referred to his recent visit to Lyari Hospital, where he said services were operating effectively and patients appeared satisfied with the facilities being provided. He said the public needs support and assistance, and it remains the responsibility of authorities to ensure that essential services are delivered without delay.

Describing the initiative as a poverty alleviation effort, he said the medical donation represents a practical step toward strengthening healthcare delivery. He added that similar support would also be extended to Balochistan, underlining the need for sustained assistance in underserved areas.

He stressed that donations should match institutional requirements and be used effectively for the greater public good. According to him, the effort reflects public service rather than political interest, and collective action is necessary if the country is to move forward.

Responding to questions, Senator Mandviwalla said a complete list of the donated equipment had been shared and its use would be monitored to maintain transparency and accountability. He added that hospitals remain responsible for administrative operations and compliance.

The Director of PEI also described the initiative as timely and necessary, saying such support should continue to promote public welfare, especially in vulnerable and underserved communities.
