PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Commission has launched a mobile application to facilitate citizens in filing complaints when government departments or public bodies fail to provide information requested under the Right to Information law.
Chief Information Commissioner Syed Nazar Hussain Shah formally inaugurated the KPRTI Complaint Management App. The launch marks a step towards making the process of seeking public information simpler, faster and more accessible for citizens across the province.
The application has been designed to help citizens exercise their legal right to obtain information held by public bodies. If a government department or any other public institution does not provide the requested information in accordance with the law, citizens can use the app to submit a complaint to the commission.
The new facility will also allow users to track the progress of their complaints through their mobile phones from anywhere and at any time. This will enable complainants to follow up on their cases without repeatedly visiting offices or making in-person enquiries.
The commission has said the launch is aimed at reducing difficulties faced by citizens while seeking information from public institutions. By providing a digital platform for complaints and follow-up, the commission hopes to make the process more convenient and improve public access to information.
Speaking at the inauguration, Chief Information Commissioner Syed Nazar Hussain Shah said the Right to Information was an important tool for promoting transparency and accountability in public institutions.
He said access to government information allowed citizens to seek answers from public bodies and understand how public institutions worked. The new application, he added, was intended to help people use this right more easily when their requests for information were not properly addressed.
Shah particularly encouraged young people to download and use the application. He said their active participation in the Right to Information process could play an important role in promoting transparency, accountability and good governance across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The application also provides a digital method for citizens to follow up on cases involving public information. It is expected to make communication with the commission easier for people who face difficulties in visiting offices or tracking complaints through traditional methods.
Citizens can download the application from the Google Play Store by searching for “KPRTI Complaint Management App,” according to the published report.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening the public’s ability to seek information and raise complaints when public bodies do not fulfil their responsibilities under the law. Its effectiveness will depend on how easily citizens can use the application and how efficiently complaints are handled after submission.
The launch also reflects a greater emphasis on using mobile technology to improve access to public information and encourages citizens, particularly young people, to play an active role in seeking accountability from public institutions.
