RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Peoples Party leader and president of the Progressive Welfare Organization, Muhammad Aamir Siddiqui, paid tribute to Madr e-Millat Fatima Jinnah on the occasion of her death anniversary, saying that benefactors are never forgotten and nations remember them with gratitude.

He said some people shine like the moon and illuminate the world around them, and Fatima Jinnah was one of those figures whose struggle for Pakistan and its stability remains unforgettable and a source of guidance for the nation.

Aamir Siddiqui said Fatima Jinnah stood alongside Quaid e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in the struggle for Pakistan, brought Muslim women of the subcontinent onto one platform, and helped make the goal of Pakistan easier to achieve. He added that Quaid e-Azam repeatedly acknowledged her services for Pakistan in the most glowing terms.

He said she taught the nation the lesson of democracy and, despite old age, strongly confronted Ayub Khan’s dictatorship, earning the title of the “Shamma e-Jamhooriyat.” According to him, her struggle shook the roots of dictatorship and authoritarian rule.

Aamir Siddiqui said the current situation demands that democracy be allowed to take root in the country, adding that economic stability is not possible without democratic stability. He urged the government to reduce petroleum prices, cut electricity, gas and LPG rates, and lower the prices of essential commodities through practical steps to help strengthen the democratic process.

He said the purpose of observing the day is to remember Madr e-Millat’s life, services and teachings, adding that the nation salutes her democratic struggle and prays for the elevation of her ranks.
