Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Monday praised Pakistan diplomacy for helping to facilitate renewed dialogue between Iran and the United States, calling it a landmark achievement that ended a nearly five-decade deadlock and created fresh prospects for regional and global peace.
Addressing the National Assembly, Ayaz Sadiq said Pakistan’s constructive engagement and sustained diplomatic efforts were central to creating an environment conducive to talks between Tehran and Washington. He described the development as a source of national pride and evidence of Pakistan’s role as a credible and responsible international stakeholder.
The Speaker congratulated Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, and Chief of Defence Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their leadership and strategic guidance. He emphasised that the Prime Minister’s political foresight and commitment to peace had been pivotal in advancing efforts toward mutual understanding.
Ayaz Sadiq also commended the Foreign Minister, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Pakistan’s diplomatic corps for exemplary engagement throughout the process. He acknowledged the contributions of Interior Minister Senator Mohsin Naqvi, National Security Adviser General Asim Malik, Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch and the entire Foreign Office team for their professionalism and effective coordination in promoting Pakistan diplomacy.
Highlighting the synergy between civilian and military leadership, the Speaker said the initiative underlined Pakistan’s long-standing preference for dialogue over confrontation and its commitment to defusing tensions that could jeopardise international peace and security. He welcomed Iranian Ambassador Dr Reza Amiri Moghadam and his delegation to Parliament and congratulated both Iran and the United States on reported progress in talks.
Ayaz Sadiq expressed hope that the ongoing engagement would culminate in a durable agreement that fosters stability, prosperity and mutual understanding across the region. He thanked friendly countries that supported Pakistan’s peace efforts and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to promoting peace, stability and dialogue on the global stage.
