China Window in Peshawar has produced a new Pashto song to mark 75 years of Pak China friendship, scheduled for formal launch on May 20 in Islamabad. The project highlights cultural bonds and deepening ties between Pakistan and the People’s Republic of China through music and heritage.
The lyrics have been penned by renowned poet Professor Dr. Abaseen Yousafzai, whose verses lend a timeless quality to the composition. The song is directed by journalist and China Window administrator Amjad Aziz Malik, with music composed by prominent Khyber Pakhtunkhwa musician Gohar Jan. Vocals are provided by internationally acclaimed singers Dr. Irfan Khalil and Yamsa Noor, whose performances add emotional depth to the piece.
Much of the video was filmed at the historic Takht-i-Bahi site, a landmark of the ancient Gandhara civilization that underscores historical links to the wider region and complements the theme of Pak China friendship. Additional scenes were shot inside a more than 142-year-old traditional house in Peshawar, chosen to symbolize continuity and the enduring nature of cultural exchange between the two countries.
The song’s poetry presents an intimate dialogue: a young woman describes a Pakistani youth as a prince, while the young man calls her a fairy from China, both expressing the warmth and mutual respect at the heart of the relationship. The lyrical interplay and melodic arrangement aim to celebrate seven decades of collaboration and goodwill.
The formal launch on May 20 in Islamabad is expected to draw distinguished personalities from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, representatives from Islamabad and members of the Chinese Embassy. Organisers say the release is intended to strengthen cultural understanding and mark the anniversary with a creative tribute to Pak China friendship.
