13 May 2026 in Islamabad saw Ambassador Khazar Farhadov of Azerbaijan call on Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination Dr. Musadik Malik to discuss ways to strengthen Pakistan Azerbaijan ties and expand bilateral cooperation.
Both leaders underlined the strategic nature of the relationship, rooted in mutual trust, shared values and regional connectivity. The Ambassador briefed the minister on the upcoming World Urban Forum and explored arrangements for meetings between Dr. Musadik Malik and Azerbaijan’s Ministers of Energy and Ecology during an anticipated visit to Baku.
Ambassador Khazar Farhadov also expressed satisfaction with the growing cooperation among Pakistan, Türkiye and the Central Asian countries, noting that closer alliances and joint ventures could spur regional economic growth and wider prosperity.
Conversation turned to people to people exchanges and transport links, with both sides exploring options to enhance flight connectivity in response to rising travel demand. Officials noted that approximately 120,000 Pakistani citizens were granted e-visas and ASAN visas for Azerbaijan last year, of whom roughly 90,000 travelled to the country, highlighting the momentum in Pakistan Azerbaijan ties.
The meeting further considered tourism cooperation, with the Ambassador praising Pakistan’s diverse landscapes, beaches and mountain scenery. Dr. Musadik Malik welcomed Azerbaijan’s experience in developing its tourism sector and said coordinated promotion of tourism and related industries could create millions of employment opportunities for Pakistani youth while strengthening bilateral economic ties.
