PHF unveils National Hockey Calendar 2026-27 and urges schools, districts and provinces to begin registrations and talent hunts ahead of national tournaments.

The Pakistan Hockey Federation has unveiled its National Hockey Calendar for 2026-27, a structured domestic schedule designed to rebuild the sport from grassroots to the elite level and to strengthen talent pathways across Pakistan.

All provincial sports boards, sports departments, boards of intermediate and secondary education, universities, district sports authorities and hockey associations have been directed to begin preparations immediately, with an emphasis on player registrations, talent-hunt programmes and coaching camps to ensure broad participation ahead of the national events.

The calendar places priority on inclusive development, covering boys, girls, junior players, women and senior athletes. Key events include the National Women's Hockey Championship scheduled from July 2 to July 11, 2026, the National Under-15 Boys and Girls Championship from November 12 to November 22, 2026, and the National Under-21 Championship from January 2 to January 12, 2027, providing multiple entry points in the player development pipeline.

Senior domestic competition will continue with the Naval Cup for senior men from March 16 to March 26, 2027, the Chief of Army Staff Hockey Championship from April 5 to April 15, 2027, and the National Bank Gold Cup from April 25 to May 5, 2027. These tournaments are intended to provide competitive exposure and scouting opportunities for emerging talent.

The PHF has specifically urged educational institutions and provincial authorities to coordinate closely with schools and colleges to boost participation in Under-15, Under-18 and women's competitions, underscoring the belief that a strong grassroots structure is essential to restore Pakistan's international standing in hockey.

Officials said the Competition Department will issue detailed participation regulations, eligibility criteria and competition guidelines in the coming weeks. Sports administrators and experts view the National Hockey Calendar as a constructive step towards a more professional domestic framework capable of nurturing future national teams.
