ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Health Mustafa Kamal on Wednesday chaired a meeting to review preparations for the inauguration of Margalla Hospital, which is set to be opened by the Prime Minister of Pakistan this week.
The meeting was attended by the joint secretary health and other officials.
According to the health minister, the 167-bed Margalla Hospital in Islamabad has been handed over to Indus Hospital and Health Network under a philanthropic partnership.
Mustafa Kamal said the partnership would prove to be an excellent example of public service, transparency and effective use of national resources.
He said the hospital would be equipped with modern medical facilities, adding that state-of-the-art diagnostic, medical and surgical facilities would be provided free of cost at Margalla Hospital.
The minister said the hospital for infectious diseases had remained non-functional for several years.
Mustafa Kamal said practical steps were being ensured to provide quality healthcare facilities to the public.
He added that Margalla Hospital would help reduce the burden of patients on major hospitals in Islamabad. The facility would also provide free, quality medical services to a large population of Islamabad and surrounding areas.
