RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has taken action against illegal housing schemes, unauthorised construction and development violations in its controlled areas, demolishing illegally built roads, infrastructure, manholes, sewerage pipelines and barriers at three locations in Morgah and adjoining areas.
According to an RDA handout issued on September 18, 2026, the operation was carried out on the directions of Commissioner Rawalpindi Division and Director General RDA Salman Ghani.
The RDA enforcement team conducted the operation against illegal activities and violations at Downtown Morgah, located on Defence Road opposite Askari-14; a land subdivision near Dhok Nawaz Graveyard; and an illegal housing scheme at Riaz Chowk, Morgah, Rawalpindi.
During the action, the enforcement squad demolished illegally constructed roads, infrastructure, manholes, sewerage pipelines and barriers at the sites in accordance with relevant rules and regulations.
The RDA said the operation was carried out under the Punjab Development of Cities Act, 1976, the RDA Building and Zoning Regulations, and other applicable planning laws and regulations.
The authority has directed its enforcement team to continue regular field inspections and take action against illegal development, unauthorised construction and other violations strictly in accordance with the law.
An RDA spokesperson said the authority had made it clear that unauthorised commercial activities, illegal construction and development violations would not be permitted within its controlled areas. He said strict action was being taken against violators to ensure compliance with approved building plans, zoning regulations and other applicable laws.
The spokesperson further said that action against illegal construction, unauthorised development and unlawful commercial activities would continue under the applicable laws, rules and regulations. Field teams have been directed to maintain strict monitoring and take action against violations without discrimination.
The enforcement operation was carried out by Deputy Director Planning Muhammad Daud, along with Assistant Director Planning Lutafullah, Assistant Director Planning Hamza Saleem, Scheme Superintendent Muhammad Tariq, Scheme Inspector Imran Hussain and other field staff.
